I just did something I've never done: scheduled a whole week (well, 6 nights) off-site/away from home to work, uninterrupted, focusing on one project, ALONE. For my birthday.
Okay maybe two or three projects -- we'll see.
Planning and prepping is crucial for this, but I've taken the first step and made the reservation.
Super grateful for my wife supporting me doing this, and that we have just enough financial stability at the moment to make it possible without breaking the bank. The space I booked is on the cheap end (less than $99 a night), but honestly more desirable and a much better fit for me than fancier places, thankfully.
I started writing a post about my failure as a webwhore ladyboss to take rewarding time off leading up to this birthday trip, but it wound up going deeper than I expected so I'll return with another post to dig through that later.
